Have I flown the coop? No dear people, I am still in my birdhouse 🙂 The last months have been a bumpy ride, which culminated in a visit to the dentist yesterday. So I have not been here in a while. I got two teeth pulled and my jaw hurts. But it is a good thing and guided by the Lord. How so you wonder?
As a new Permanent Resident working as an on call Receptionist, I have no insurance and very very limited funds. I did have big dental problems and no way to take care of them without some miracle. Or asking my husband to punch me in the face to knock them out. That didn’t sound too appealing to me…so a friend of mine directed me to the Free Health Clinic of which I had no idea even existed! They put me on a waiting list and will also take care of other thingies I deal with. Like the splinter in the middle of my foot that went straight in and that I just can’t get out. Yes ladies and gentlepeeps, life is full of surprises..
Anywho, my friend then remembered that she had a friend in her church who is a dentist and she called him to see if he could do something, since the Health Clinic would take a while and I was in much pain. He could and he did! He prescribed antibiotics that I would have to take for 10 days and set up an appointment a week later. Just to make sure any infection would be gone.
They took x-rays of the affected teeth and pulled them both yesterday. Of course I had a hot tooth as they called it, that needed extra stuff that would floor an elephant. After the second try to numb the nerve, I sat up and said ” I can’t do this anymore” and tears rolled from my cheeks. I asked the Lord out loud to please please help me and laid back down. The next shot did NOT HURT at all!!! Praise be to Him!!!! Then they were able to get both teeth and I thanked them from the bottom of my heart.
Grace and mercy!
Here’s the kicker…the entire thing cost $485. And I had to pay……$ 0,-
I still can’t believe it. This is what God asks us to do. To help each other and expect nothing in return. To treat another the way we would like to be treated.
Matthew 22: 37-40 37 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Halleluja! I am beyond grateful for the Lord to have guided my friend and the dentist for their help and selflessness. And above all I am grateful for God’s provision.
